This show has got to be one of the greatest anime series to ever hit TVs and screens everywhere. starting out in the 1980's as a show called DRAGONBALL, what was meant to be a comedy soon became an action hit. Combining action with humour (most of the time toilet humour), the show's popularity just kept on growing. After years of developing DRAGONBALL, the next series was released. this was DRAGONBALL Z.
DRAGONBALL Z was released as a continuation of the original spanning over 30 years in the DRAGONBALL universe. featuring all the old main characters and occasionally a few old villians from DRAGONBALL, the show introduced many new characters and plots. these plots extended to alien planets and different dimensions and even other universes. as with its original counterpart, DRAGONBALL Z ended but was soon to be released with yet another coninuation of the series.
The third and final installment of the DRAGONBALL series was named DRAGONBALL GT. occuring approximately 50 years after the events of the original DRAGONBALL, DRAGONBALL GT took the fighting and powers to a whole new level. unlike DRAGONBALL and DRAGONBALL Z, DRAGONBALL GT was a shorter series but more fast-paced.A BRIEF STORY
the series follows the journey of a 5 year old boy with a tale named GOKU. as the series continues, GOKU and his friends search for the 7 DRAGONBALLS. when all 7 of these balls are found, the finder is given any one wish they desire. from searching for the DRAGONBALLS to eventually saving teh world, goku meets many characters such as BULMA, TIEN, YAMCHA, KRILLIN and MASTER ROSHI (the source of most of the show's toilet humour). The end of DRAGONBALL occurs after GOKU (now in his early teens) defeats the demon king PICCOLO.
GOKU IN DRAGONBALL
DRAGONBALL Z occurs 5 years after the events of DRAGONBALL. goku is married to his wife CHI-CHI (met in the original series as a child) and has a young son named GOHAN (named after GOKU'S adopted grandfather). the series follows GOKU as he discovers he is form an alien race known as SAYIANS and must battle the remnants of the race who come to take Earth. after the SAYIAN saga, GOKU travels to planet NAMEK where he encounts the next major villian of the series FRIEZA. After discovering it was FRIEZA who destroyed his home plant and also killed his best friend KRILLIN, goku transforms to a SUPER SAIYAN and defeats the villian. After the NAMEK saga, the heroes return to earth and all think GOKU is dead. upon finding that goku is alive, a new threat forms and eventually the new villian CELL comes to be. As CELL is too powerful even for GOKU, GOHAN is taught that a state above the power of SUPER SAIYAN can be achieved and that only with this power can he defeat CELL. As GOKU dies fighting cell, GOHAN becomes a SUPER SAIYAN 2 and defeats cell thus ending teh CELL SAGA. The last saga of DRAGONBALL Z is teh BUU SAGA. in this saga, an ancient being named BUU is awakened and GOKU is brought back to life to fight him. In this saga, GOKU achieves SUPER SAYIAN 3 thoguh is not able to defeat BUU. eventually fusion is introduced and characters fuse to obtain massive power levels. After much struggle, GOKU eventualy defeats BUU using his signature technique, THE SPIRIT BOMB (learned at teh beggining of the SAYIAN SAGA).
GOKU IN DRAGONBALL Z
DRAGONBALL GT follows GOKU once more as well as characters from DRAGONBALL and DRAGONBALL GT. by this time GOKU is about 45-50 years old and is reverted to his childhood state due to an incident at the beggining of the series. as the series progresses, many enemies are faced on alien planets sch as DR WIELDO and back on Earth, SUPER ANDROID 17 (originally in the CELL SAGA). The most famous enemies of DRAGONBALL GT where however the DARK SHENRON DRAGONS. achieving SUPER SAIYAN 4, GOKU fuses with VEGETA (another main character originally the villain of the SAYIAN SAGA) and defeats most of the DARK SHENRON DRAGONS, however, the fusion is not enough and once again, GOKU relies on the power of his SPIRIT BOMB to defeat the final villian OMEGA SHENRON. after defeating OMEGA SHENRON, GOKU dissapears on teh back of SHENRON (the dragon who appears to grant a wish when the dragonballs are gathered). In the last episode, years later, GOKU'S great grandson is seen fighting VEGETA'S grandson in a world martial arts tournament which GOKU fought in 50 years earlier.
